The core deficits of autism are communication impairments, social interaction difficulties, and repetitive and stereotyped behavior. However, in the inclusive education environment, these core deficits are sufficient to lead them to severe academic difficulties and challenges. Through the process of reviewing the literature, the article clearly shows the current situation about the difficulties of autism in academic adaptation. In addition, the article describes the performance of autism in cognitive, reading comprehension, written expression, and mathematics by reviewing literature. At last, the article synthesizes literature on academic skill intervention and introduces intervention of evidence-based practices about autism for future research and teaching. |
