This paper discusses how Venerable Master Hsing Yun, through the oral account ''Hear Me Out: Messages from a Humble Monk'', employs a narrative style of reminiscence to chronicle the sixty-year journey of spreading Buddhist teachings and promoting the movement of Buddhism in the human realm, documented in forty discourses. It particularly emphasizes how the master adeptly elucidates sensitive issues such as industry, politics, and interpersonal conflicts that are commonly perceived as delicate, with a candid and comprehensive approach. Through analyzing the narrative presentation of ''Hear Me Out: Messages from a Humble Monk'' and its practical content concerning real-world human endeavors, this paper aims to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of both the form and content of the master's work. |
