Based on the creative purposes and techniques advocated by the three founders of the Lingnan Painting School, Gao Jianfu, Gao Qifeng and Chen Shuren, this article introduces the life of the Lingnan Painting School painter Ma Tsi Hong and the creative characteristics of his works, including through personal interviews with his descendant and his small number of remaining works are analyzed and reviewed in detail, with a focus on Ma Tsi Hong's representative works, including the paper ink work ''Going to the Sea'', which was presented to the Soviet Union as a gift on behalf of mainland China in the 1950s, and the line-drawing meticulous painting ''Double Dragon Mural'' created on the stone wall of the grand entrance inside the gate of the building complex of Foshan Ancestral Temple, mainland China. As well as the meticulous artistic works ''Lotus Lantern Dance'' and ''Two Phoenixes facing Peony Fairy'', etc. Ma Tsi Hong was a disciple of Zhang Daqian, and Zhang Daqian's Dunhuang Feitian replication work had a great influence on him. This article will make an in-depth review of Ma Tsi Hong's ''Lotus Lantern Dance'' and ''Double Phoenixes facing Peony Fairy'', and make detailed comparisons with Tang Yin's ''Prostitutes in the Palace of Wangshu'' and Qiu Ying's ''Spring Dawn in the Han Palace'' in the Ming Dynasty, showing that these works of Ma Tsi Hong's in respect of the composition of the picture, the use of ink, the expression of artistic conception, the emotional atmosphere and the description of details, attaining extraordinary attainments and has extremely high artistic value, recreating his forgotten achievements in the painting world in the past. |
