This article aims to reassess potential issues in the identification and positioning of current prison operations in our country by discussing the results of Japan’s latest legal reforms. To begin, the introduction briefly highlights the practical characteristics and longstanding challenges faced by domestic labor in prisons. Subsequently, the article introduces the outcomes of Japan’s latest legal reforms, organizing and analyzing potential advantages and disadvantages that may arise in adjusted labor practices in prisons following the legislative changes. In conclusion, through a thorough analysis of the content of Japan’s new legislative changes, this article provides an opportunity to reconsider and revise labor practices in prisons in our country. Drawing from the Japanese experience, the goal is to address and clarify any contradictions and ambiguities that may exist between punishment and treatment. It is hoped that this can serve as a reference for promoting future reforms in labor practices in prisons. |
