This project aims to develop a new type of percussion instrument and study on structural geometry design method and principle. Wang and Hsieh applied optimum design method provided by ANSYS to obtain two types of plates that can produce triad chord sound. The microphone is used as sensor to monitor the percussion sound and show the mechanism of sound radiation due to structural vibration modes. The percussion sound characteristics are recognized by using different mallets and studied for radiated sound spectrum as well as peak frequencies and amplitudes. Finite element analysis (FEA) is adapted to aid on structural modification for C chord sound plates. |
