This study was to explore how the professional self of psychiatric nursing staffs would be transformed in the two-stage training group. The authors, as facilitators of the group, used participant observation to conduct the study. The process of training group included inpatient group and the following group for nurses. The group had 12 sessions. Each group for nurses held on 50 minutes weekly. The groups processes were tape recorded and transcribed verbatim. The data were analyzed by constant comparative analysis. The mirroring and sharing in the group interaction promoting the nurses transformed their experience through embodiment, reflection and embracement was found. The intersubjectivity in the two-stage training group could promote empathic abilities of nurses. |
