This study is the comparison of participation between the single and double circle seating for the low-level functioning schizophrenics. The objects of this study were a group of female patient Toyuan Psychiatric Center. The study period was between 9.14.98 to 3.15.99. The patients were inpatients who had been diagnosed as schizxophrenia. The data was collected in the weekly community meeting. The processes would be single-circle set for amonth, four weeks in the row. Then the seating would be changed to dould seating for a month, four weeks in the row. This procedure would be hold alternatively for 24 weeks. The data includes the observation of the group activities from the researcher, and the participated patients 'feed back. In this case, they were coming from structure questionnaires after the meeting. Overall, researcher would vert good idea about the meeting appearance, the frequency of speaking out and the opinions of each patient after meeting. The information was analyzed by percentage and chi-quire test and Mann-Whitney test methed The result shows that in the double circle seating the outside circle patients were more likely to leave early than the single circle seating. (p=0.047) Also, umder the double circle setting the patients would be more likely to void the eye contacts with each other. (P=0.033) However, the situation of speakingout had not significant difference between this two setting. The result of this study shows that the double circle setting was mot as welcome as the single oneby the low-level functioning schizophrenics. This result could be collated by other Schizophrenicsin rehabilitation wards which have large group therapy or similar activities. |
