This study focused on the working perspectives concerning the development of psychodramatic in Taiwan . One hundred and eighty-three professionals, who involved in psychodramatic treatments in 15 psychiatric facilities, were asked to give opinions to the designed questionnaire by mailing and 150 (82%) responded. Fifty-seven (38%) members have been continuing actively to participating in psychodrama group therapy while ninety-three (62%) have discontinued. The results of this study are as follows: 1) Majority of respondents indicated positive affirmation of the therapeutic effect of psychodrama (52%-87%), in terms of more understanding of the patients, increasing the patients' understanding of their own problems, calming down the patients' emotional tension, improving their social behaviors and helping them gaining insight. 2) Personal reasons for continuation of working with psychodrama are to find pleasant cooperation between the members, to secure personal interest, professional knowledge and self-growth, and to accomplish the therapeutic effect. 3) In contrast, personal reasons for discontinuing psychodrama are: facing to career choice, feeling much pressure to be a director and lacking clinical guidance I supervision. 4) From the organizational point of views, there were following reasons for discontinuing the psychodrama group: difficulty for training a director and composing a psychodrama team, lack of support from the high-rank administration, and low estimation of cost-effectiveness. 5) In the present, there are eight hospitals still actively carrying on psychodramatic treatments in Taiwan. Overall, the respondents are full of interest, quite motivated and well expecting to practice psychodrama in the future. In conclusion, the psychiatric personnel strongly recommend supporting the promotion of the psychodrama therapy model for health care system in Taiwan. |
