Based on the personal encounter, this article structured a criticism on the media study by Chin-Chuan Lee following his theoretical landmark publication and its proliferations from his visiting scholarship in Taiwan. The influence of his book on communication theory should not be refrained from the teaching and study on campus. During the emerging democratic movement nationwide, this lecture and other articles illuminated a new-born generation for engaging the politics and reform of Taiwan communication system. Aftermath, three critical reviews on the resistance and revolt against the authoritarian regime are addressed into international academic circle of communications study. His contribution into Taiwan media history is clearly categorized into publishing several topics, including press, political magazine, underground cable, satellite TV, video recording cassette, and public television. |
