This preliminary research aiming to the case of "speech crime". During the authoritarian rule from 1949 to 1992, many were accused of "advocating Communists' thought " or "spreading rumors" and convicted by military courts. Government archives are one of the main channels for academics to explore this issue. Although Taiwan has been lifting its martial law for many years, the opening pace of government archives has been relatively slow. Therefore, prior research of this domain is limited. This particular research focuses on the collection methods of historical data. Researchers employ multiple data collection methods: first construct a preliminary list with text exploration, then collect historical data files, then use software tools to process the data to structure it, and finally perform descriptive statistics. The results of this research will present the outline of the collective appearance of the victims of "speech crime". |
