Drink driving puts self and others in imminent danger. The statistics show that drink driving behaviors displayed a slow decline tendency in recent years, however the recidivism rate increased instead of dropped. In order to prevent drink driving and implement the zero tolerance policy of drink driving, relevant assistant measures have constantly been revised, such as introducing medical interventions into the policy. Recently, drink-driving prisoners are required to receive a secondary prevention group program for drink driving. It's a critical chance to correct target group member's cognitive biases and establish anticipated behaviors regarding drink driving. The current study shares a secondary prevention group program designed for drink driving prisoners, as well as the experiences of implementing the program. Conducting group therapy in prison is restricted, and establishing alliance with members is challenging. Nevertheless, respect and empathy are the keys. It's hard to get rid of psychological addiction via several hours of group intervention, and yet through professional intervention we can not only build good relationships with members, express caring for their well-being, but also reduce drink driving behaviors, facilitate motivation for abstinence even sobriety by means of group dynamics. |
