On preventing the adverse development of infant, it's crucial to understand the impact of maternal emotion. The author reviewed the relationships between maternal depression and infant development, as well as their related factors and mechanism. Factors of parenting, infant temperament, and parenting-temperament interaction were reviewed. Then four interventions were specified. Those interventions were parent-infant psychotherapy, parenting guidance, '"temperament-based'" intervention, and '"person-centered'" picture book reading. Although the theoretical approaches of those interventions were different, they shared the similarity in establishing a good therapeutic relationship with parents. Under a relaxed atmosphere, psychological education was conducted by clinicians. Based on the review, researchers and practitioners can develop intervention methods to promote the parenting for infant families in Taiwan. |
