Object: The purpose of this research was to find the growth model of the therapeutic factors in different stages of dynamically interpersonal group psychotherapy. Method: This research applied the dynamically interpersonal group psychotherapy with 16 sessions in the outpatient setting. The data was collected from 141 members of 18 groups by sorting of therapeutic factor cards during the courses of the group psychotherapy. Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis and examined by hierarchical linear model for growth model of therapeutic factors. Result: The most important therapeutic factors were self-understanding and interpersonal learning-input in dynamically interpersonal group psychotherapy. According to the linear growth model, therapeutic factors of group cohesiveness, imitating, recapitulation of primary family group, interpersonal learning-input, self-understanding, instillation of hope and didactic instruction increased progressively with time. Factors associated with the initial value of therapeutic factors were above 40 year-old, numbers of members in the group, history of hospitalization, idea of death and taking medication. Factors associated with growth the therapeutic factors were gender, educational level above college, above 40 year-old, the score of Taiwanese Depression Questionnaire(TDQ), cluster B personality, taking medication and numbers of members in the group. Conclusion: In dynamically interpersonal group psychotherapy for depressive patients, the interpersonal learning-input and self-understanding are the important therapeutic factors. The therapeutic factors are influenced by some demographic characteristics such as high education, age over 40, moderate to severe symptoms but not very severe, having good insight, and good compliance. Members who have those characteristics will get better progression on therapeutic factors. As for unstable cluster B personality patients, it has a negative influence on the development of therapeutic factors. |
