This article explores the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on library management decisions and leadership from professional literature on library and information science. It aims to understand the effects of the pandemic on library budgets, collection development, as well as its impact on the value of libraries, professional development of librarians, community needs, and service space planning. Furthermore, the article delves into the predictions made by the academic community regarding the post-pandemic development of academic libraries. On a practical level, this article uses the results of national public library surveys in Japan and Taiwan to explain how libraries prevent infection and provide services during the epidemic. During the epidemic, this article illustrates the digital transformation of libraries at home and abroad in response to the epidemic, as well as possible developments after the epidemic. It highlights the efforts of libraries in the Czech Republic, Estonia, Poland, and Taiwan in response to the digital transformation during and after the pandemic. |
