Diseases affect bodies, minds, and daily lives in humans, and they even involve the following problems, such as family, medical, and care. Taking the disease writing as main theme, it's getting close to every single person's individual life experience and daily life. A writer's personal experiences and observations to diseases will be seen as an important theme for literary creation. This course focuses on the disease writing. I've designed a five-week course, which is based on the texts of ''Jet lag'' by Xin-en Huang and ''Backtrack to cave'' by Chia-Hsien Yang. These two articles are separately describing while your loved ones suffered from dementia or depression, the caregiver and the companion will need to face and endure lots of difficulties. Furthermore, it may change their minds, emotions, and daily life. This course will start with guidance and questions, text analysis and discussion, group project report, personal narrative writing, then to final essay question test, I hope these will stimulate students to study and think and organize thoughts then express systematically. In addition, it could enhance their skills of oral expression, narrative writing, and the ability of speculative discourse. At the same time, there will be eight group project reports from deportment of public policy and administration, deportment of banking and finance, deportment of electrical engineering, deportment of applied materials and optoelectronic engineering etc., and thirty-two feedback sheets, personal assignments and final exam sheets as materials to check and analyze students' positive results and overall teaching effectiveness. The research results showed that while planning project report, it helps to collect and organize learning materials, and promote the skill of presentation and oral expression. Also, it could gain a deeper understanding of dementia and depression. Absorbing related texts and life experiences, it will achieve the goal of theme teaching and deepen the understanding of the related knowledge of disease. Through personal assignments writing, this could review the relation between oneself and one's family. Then, having a think about the influence of disease, and trying to find ways to solving problems. Through the result of final essay questions tests, it shows that the theme course arrangement and project report design could enhance the capability of disquisition. From the students' positive results and overall teaching effectiveness which could provide recourses for teaching. |
