UFOlogy in Taiwan emerged in the 1970s. At first, through the translation of books, a discourse on UFOlogy was gradually formed, combining parapsychology, studies of life and death, history, and supernatural research, and developing regional research methods. However, the current information on the development history of UFOs in Taiwan is fragmented, and there is little systematic arrangement and exploration. This paper examines the book translation and research discourse of UFO, and based on the archives and images retained by the Taiwan UFOlogy Society, as well as in-depth interviews with relevant members and records in newspapers and magazines. Further exploration of their reflections on the existing research methods of flying saucers, as well as their localized research awareness, presents an alternative scientific history hidden in the development of scientific research. |
