In the present paper, 20 species are treated under 10 genera. Descriptions of the family and of each of the genera together with analytical keys to genera and species respectively are given. A description is also given to each species. Among the genera studied, Cynoglossum is particularly difficult. There are three species in Taiwan, distributed from the lowlands to the mountains. They differ from each other only in external appearance and vegetative characters. Intermediate forms, apparently due to ecological conditions, are sometimes met with. The present treatment of this genus is only tentative and is not at all satisfactory. Further study, especially observation in the field, is needed. |
