Taiwan and South Korea respectively promoted economic development plans in the 1950s and 1960s, and in the 1980s, they became emerging industrial countries in East Asia along with Hong Kong and Singapore, known as the“Four Asian Tigers.”This article will examine the background and development process of economic development plans for Taiwan in South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. The South Korean perspective that I want to use here is not the research results of academia, but the news reported by South Korean media. The recording of facts is one of the characteristics of newspapers, which can grasp the true situation of Taiwan’s economic development process. We will observe the current economic situation in Taiwan as reported in the news and use this to examine how South Korea viewed Taiwan’s economic growth at that time. |
