This study collects issues raised by the public in the“Public Service Mailbox (also known as the Director’s Mailbox) of the Food and Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare (hereinafter referred to as TFDA) from 2020 to 2022. Each inquiry category related to food are counted, with“labeling/ingredients”and“laws and regulate”being the largest cases. These two categories accounted for 77% of the total number of cases, which indicates the people have the most doubts on food labeling and regulations. Hence, future policies and regulations should strengthened on clear explanation of the applicability on each regulation, increased the content of the question and answer set, and explained the statute in easy-to-understand words. In addition, from 2020 to 2022, the number of cases in the TFDA“Public Service Mailbox”decreased year by year, which is inferred to be related to the establishment of food labeling and regulatory inquiry platform in recent years. In order to enhance public knowledge on food management, it is recommended to re-examine the system design interface of the public service mailbox, and consider linking the relevant food inquiry system and platform interface to the homepage of the public service mailbox. When the people have questions, they can first go to the relevant inquiry platform, which accelerate the public understanding of the issues of concern. |
