Hoarding behavior is a psychological barrier that comes from excessive acquisition or unwillingness to discard useless materials, which makes the living space highly affected. The long-term impact including impeding the growth of children, interfering with the life of the elderly, causing to neglect or self-abandonment, and leading to a vicious circle of continuous stigma. Empirical research shows social work can be important discipline to organize interdisciplinary work teams in the community. Due to local studies are limited, this study uses qualitative research methods to interview 8 social workers who had work with people of hoarding behaviors. The study found that local social workers can support change by understanding the complex context factors related to hoarding, recognizing that including other different professions will bring various effects, and using the ability and resources of the case at the time. They also can work in the community for de-stigmatization and advocacy. The research limitations and future research suggestions are discussed for the future. |
