The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences of mother's participating in filial therapy group. The study participants were mothers who had completed filial therapy group. In this study, qualitative research was used to understand the participation experiences and influences of 12 mothers through semi-structured interviews. The data analysis found that the influences of filial therapy group on mothers included the promotion of parental role awareness, improvement of positive parenting skills, the observation of children's progress, and improvement of parent-child relationship and family relationship. The experiences of mother's participating in filial therapy group were learning varied and professional parenting skills, getting sense of support through interactions with members and leaders, getting universality through sharing experiences, enhancing learning motivation and adjusting interactions with children, and promoting reflection of insufficient and restrictions. Based on the findings of the study, the researchers provided suggestions about the filial therapy for future research and practice. |
