In recent years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of people have adjusted their daily routines. As the Taiwanese society has been aging, more and more books on health self-management, forming good daily habits, and other health related issue are available in the market. And many of them are Japanese books translated into Chinese. Therefore, this study aimed to explore relevant translation problems and corresponding solution strategies through analyzing several health and wellness books that have already hit store shelves as actual examples. This study analyzed the statements associated with improving immunity, sustaining a healthy lifestyle, and dietary habits in the books and categorized the text into four groups, namely“dietary habits”,“nutritional ingredients”,“immunity”, and“autonomic nerves”, for the purpose of identifying the differences in“everyday expressions”and“use of verbs”between the Chinese translation and the Japanese original. Hopefully, the findings of the analyses conducted by this study on the actual translation examples by professional translators can be used as useful and specific references for future translations of descriptions related to health and wellness and can be further applied in future teaching of translation. |
