Inkjet printing has become the preferred medium for graphic/photographic art works and art reproductions. Archival cotton papers and water-based pigment ink can produce excellent details and achieve wide color gamut. Art museums also accept inkjet medium for their collections because of the long-lasting character. At the same time, there are many protective spray cans on the market that claim to increase color-fastness of inkjet images, and prolong the storage and display life. In this study, 30 fixatives were tested. Some products can effectively reduce the fading of inkjet images caused by light. However, it was also found that the use of fixatives may cause problems with reduced image density and color gamut. |
