The role of principals is closely related to school development, especially become instructional leaders. In the past, the instruction leadership of principals has been ignored. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the issue of principals’instructional leaders. This study focused on the concept and practice of elementary principals’instruction leadership. In the aspect of research methods, survey was used in order to explore the present situation regarding the concept and practice of elementary principals’instructional leadership. The differences of elementary principals’instructional leadership based on their variables also discussed. There were 1334 principals participated in this study and 930 principals returned the questionnaire. The results included the concept and practice of elementary principals’instruction leadership were upper-middle level; the average scores of the concept and practice of female elementary principals’instruction leadership were higher than the male principals; there were no difference of the concept and practice of elementary principals’instructional leadership based on their variables, and the average score of the concept of elementary principals’instruction leadership was higher than the practice of female elementary principals’instruction leadership. Moreover, several recommendations were proposed based on the results for educational authorities and elementary principals. |
