This thesis examines three ''concepts of reality'' in AndréBazin's (1918-1958) film theory. They are (1) realism; (2) total cinema; (3) the evolution of the language of cinema of Italian neorealism. Furthermore, we can see the characteristics of Bazin's realism here. In this thesis, I will clarify the complex entanglement of realism from the history of painting to the history of film, and at the same time elucidate the discussion of art and reality in Bazin's film theory. Finally, it clearly demonstrates the thinking mode of Bazin's theory of reality. |
