In this paper, the author addresses the economic design of symmetric specification limits coefficient and quality investment settings for the modified Dodge-Romig attribute single rectifying inspection plan with specified consumer’s risk. The parameters with the minimum of expected total cost per unit of product for the manufacturer is the optimal solution. Taguchi’s symmetric quadratic quality loss function is applied to measure the product quality with the expected quality loss for conforming and nonconforming products. Assume that the quality characteristic of product with known product target value and known process standard deviation. The quality investment function is exponential reduction for process variance. Numerical example and sensitivity analysis of parameters are provided for illustration.
