Fo Fong was a collective working, living, and religious space for families in Meinung. However, with the deterioration of the traditional collective production system and the rise in consciousness of private land ownership, preserving this space has become difficult. In 2020, Meinung Kiu Tiam Gui Fo Fong was restored and opened to the public. It was designated by the city government as a monument in 2021. This process was supported by families, local groups, and the public sector. A researcher of the Kiu family's historical investigation project, the author explores the changes in families from the settlement era to the 21st century due to reconstructed social capital, power structures, and communal cooperation through the lens of Massey's ideas in Space, Place, and Gender. |
