Myanmar is located between the Greater Mekong Sub-region and the South Asian continent. Its geostrategic location is the strategic hub of India's Act East Policy and Thailand's Act West Policy, China's Belt and Road strategy across the Pacific and Indian Oceans, and the US-led Indo-Pacific strategy. Therefore, although Myanmar is a strategically weak place with political and economic unease, it will become a strategic area for international powers to enter and exit the two oceans due to fate. For a long time, Myanmar has been criticized by the world for the continuous expansion of Tatmadaw power under the military dictatorship regime, involving political and economic interests and controlling affairs at all levels of the government, and being independent of the judicial power, completely unregulated by the government system, and doing whatever they want. After the military coup in 2021, the Tatmadaw once again overthrew the civilian government, and vigorously suppressed opponents of the military government and civilians, and gained notoriety. Since the various countries and ASEAN countries have not done their best to help resolve the political crisis in Myanmar, how to quell this incident and restore the democratic government is still full of variables. |
