A total of 60 (16 domestic, 41 imported, 3 unknown) cosmetic products were sampled from 13 internet platforms for quality surveillance. The patches/facial masks (eye/lip/face), shaving creams, and baby wipes were analyzed to monitor whether the contents of preservatives and microbial meet the criteria of limit restriction; the eyelash perm kits were inspected by monitoring the three perming agents, including thioglycolic acid, sodium bromate and hydrogen peroxide; the perfumes, hair sprays and eyelash adhesives were monitored by detecting the presence of the prohibited solvents and phthalates. The results showed that 13 products (6 products of shaving cream, 4 products of eye/lip/mask patches and 3 products of baby wipes) were detected the presence of preservatives that did not match the product label, and the remaining one product of the baby wipes was detected bacterial count of 1.4×106 CFU/g, which did not comply with the criteria of limit restriction of below 100 CFU/g. Ten samples of the eyelash products were detected the presence of the hair perm ingredients that are not allowed to be added to the products of this category. All the perfumes and hair sprays were qualified in the absence of prohibited solvents and phthalates. Two of the eyelash glues were detected presence of the prohibited ingredients of benzene of 29.0 ppm and formaldehyde of 99.3 ppm, respectively, while a third was detected presence of toluene of 6,590 ppm and formaldehyde of 152 ppm simultaneously. These non-compliant products would be ceased to be sold online. The results of this surveillance project would also be provided as reference to the administration. |
