The purposes of this study are to explore the new trend of choral performance, the application on the composition and performance implemented in the university general choral courses; and to cultivate the aesthetic literacy and interdisciplinary competence of technology university students. The origins and development of show choir and choral theater were studied. Based on choral methods, the researcher designed the teaching strategies and practice forms to develop the students’ the interdisciplinary competence through the integrating compositions and performances. Their creating process and learning effects were investigated as well. The selection of quality choral literature and the choralography were highly concerned by the researcher. The choralography, combining formations and movements, should be matched with the style and construction of choral music, and not to interfere with the accurate singing, to display the rich performance with visual and other theater elements aid. In order to prepare for a versatile performance styles, students spent much time and energy on practicing and reflecting to develop multiple intelligences and hand-eye coordination. They learned to cooperate with others, and enhanced their comprehension of choral works with repetitive practice. The study provided a reference for choral educators in teaching and research. |
