The Tokyo Prison from Mari Akasaka published on Bungei volume 49, number 1 to volume 50, number 4 and volume 51, number 2 during January, 2010 ~May, 2012 won The 16th Ryotaro Shiba Prize and has been in the spotlight recently. The thesis will discuss two major issues in Tokyo Prison. First, Mari Akasaka has mentioned the relationship between people and nationals during one interview; Second, the relationship between America and Japan was compared to men-women connections in Tokyo Prison. In summary, Tokyo Prison revealed the fusion of Japanese individuals and the nation postwar, we also discovered that she had strong national identity, which also can be proved by depiction of nations and individuals seen commonly in the work. The other finding is that to describe the relationship between America and Japan as men-women connections in Tokyo Prison IS based on the rebound of feminizing Japan in postwar era. |
