After the WWII, the native nationalism was prosperous in the Southeast Asia. The Sarawak government employed education to build a common identity, the Chinese education was excluded from the national education system. Nonetheless, there are still 233 elementary schools and 14 high schools taught in Mandarin Chinese in Sarawak. In this paper, I try to make an inquiry into the emergence, development and impact of the Chinese high schools in Sarawak. |
