英文摘要 |
Since the mid-1980s, Taiwan's enterprises have further embedded themselves into the semi-periphery of the world system by means of capital outflow and regional division of labor. This essay attempts to analyze the upgrading process, concretely focusing on the level of the industry sectors, and even more on specific firms. During the last two decades, Taiwanese capitalists used the networking, involving and penetrating strategy very skillfully, thus constructed the entry barriers obstructing the latecomers' catch-up and replacement desire. I argue that the up or down of the role of Taiwan, and the cooperation and/or competition among Taiwan, China and Southeast Asia's enterprises, are affected by the global commodity chains, rather than the throw-away logic of the new international division of labor. |
