試釋臺灣詩文當中「珊瑚」與「鐵樹」的名稱混用

On the Confusing Usage of Shan-húand Tiě-shùin Classical Taiwanese Poems

潘富俊《中國文學植物學》「第九章易於混淆的植物名稱」載及：「珊瑚原指海洋中的腔腸動物，生長於熱帶海底，死亡後的骨架就是我們所說的『珊瑚』」。指出了作為動物的「珊瑚」，然而，根據《臺灣府志》所載「綠珊瑚」等後來才引進或在臺灣發現的植物，常常語焉不詳或相混淆，尤其是當詩人以這些新物種當作創作主題吟詠時，怎樣解讀，那種注解才是較正確的，都需要經過學者的研究。本文即在研究與處理「易於混淆的植物名稱」，當文獻中「珊瑚」指向「珊瑚樹」、「綠珊瑚」、「毬蘭」、「仙丹花」等四種動、植物時，到底實際可能指涉的物種有哪些？「珊瑚」與「鐵樹」也常混稱，需要於文中一併釐清。這是本文為何以「珊瑚」與「鐵樹」為題，希望提醒研究者一個主要是跨文學、植物學兩大領域的研究向度，也提供讀者研究臺灣詩文的物種時，需注意文學中的同名異物的情況，未經詳細比對前，切勿遽下定論。經由本文的論析，可以知道「鐵樹」也至少涵蓋五個物種，包括了鐵樹、海棗類、龍舌蘭類、朱蕉以及巴西鐵樹等。

In Chinese Literature and Botany, Fujun Pan proposed that the term shan-hú (珊瑚) applied in classical literature may refer to marine invertebrate corals or several ordinary plants. However, since most Green shan-hú and the related plants were introduced to Taiwan much later, it is definitely difficult to designate what shan-hú might be in earlier poems. This paper intends to clarify and explore all possible plants which shan-hú could be in these poems: Viburnum odoratissimum, Euphorbia tirucalli, Hoya-carnosa, or Ixora chinensis. Tiě-shù (鐵樹) may refer at least to the following five categories: Cycas revolute, Phoenix sp., Agave sp., Cordyline terminalis, and Dracaena fragrans.
