Self-storage has become an established warehouse storage service, particularly in densely populated metropolitan areas. To explain the relationship between fire behaviour and temperature distribution at such facilities, the present study examined three experimental self-storage structures. Experiments involving four full-scale fire tests were conducted of a fire room and two adjacent compartments, with reference to critical temperatures stated in CNS12514-1, based on ISO 834-1. The results indicate that in storage units where generic materials are stored, whether the door of the unit is open has a critical influence on whether the fire will spread to adjacent units. |
