"In order to fulfill the goal of nurturing by nature, the 12-year compulsory education is a competency-based model. However, the training of art talent classes is mainly focus on students’ drawing techniques and their art-making abilities. In the high schools, the focuses are put on those subjects for the college entrance exam, instead of providing knowledge for advanced visual art professionals developed in recent years, such as exploration in art restoration, art research, art economy, art education, and art therapy. Therefore, this article provides the perspectives of the need of career counseling for the art talent classes under high schools, and addresses following questions: the necessity of offering career information of advanced visual art professionals; enhancing the flexibility of course schedule arrangement, mini courses set-up, or self-selected subjects in schools; the demand of offering interesting career counseling methods for students’ self-explorations; and assisting teachers to enhance their professional knowledge. Thus, students in different levels of art talent classes have the opportunities to explore their personal career characteristics and to plan for their future career developments." |
