"In recent years, the construction of the Indigenous people’s knowledge system has attracted attention from all walks of life, and scholars in various academic fields have explored the essence of the knowledge of Taiwan’s Indigenous Peoples from different perspectives as an important basis for ethnic development and cultural inheritance. However, there has been little exploration into the essence of physical education knowledge of Taiwan’s Indigenous Peoples. This article is aimed to explore the essence of knowledge of the traditional physical education of Taiwan's Indigenous Peoples based on the concept of the knowledge system of indigenous peoples, to further discuss the structure and essence of the knowledge system of physical education of Taiwan's Indigenous Peoples. After analyzing the literature, it is found that the knowledge of physical education of Taiwan’s Indigenous Peoples centers round sacredness, spatiality, history and sociality, and derives the categories and essence of different types of knowledge. Systematical establishment of the knowledge system of traditional physical education not only benefits the preservation and transmission of cultural values, but also can be used as a reference basis for the study and exploration of physical education knowledge among different ethnic groups. On the other hand, there are many indigenous peoples in Taiwan and different developments in physical education knowledge according to local conditions. Therefore, it is recommended that multiple research approaches can be adopted to carry out the follow-up research on related issues, focusing on the particularities of each ethnic group and the interpretation of language and culture, to deepen the theoretical meaning of the knowledge system of physical education of Taiwan’s Indigenous Peoples." |
