"Psychological distress presents in all stages of life. Personal crises bring about worries and agonizing feeling that could harm both mental and physical well-being. In the long term, the negative emotions that reflexively arise from frustrations may affect one's physical condition as the deficient mind is strained. The focus of this paper is two-fold. The first objective is to explore the implications of positive psychology under transcendental thinking on health maintenance and the mechanism through which mental and physical condition interact. The second objective is to establish a perceptual cycle model of psychosomatic unity based on the concepts of holistic person, yin and yang harmony, meaning, transformation and growth in the light of the second wave positive psychology (PP2.0) and apply it to activate the awareness of the psychosomatic state through the“physical to mental”and the“mental to physical”approaches. Such model may be utilized to help individuals to initiate positive growth cycle and enhance self-cherishing awareness through specific mental and physical adjustment actions. It is expected that this piece of work may help individuals see the meaning and value of life; provide professional helpers with a new approach to develop practical programs; and, finally, provides a new perspective for future researches." |
