從「糞堆」到「糞球」，再從「糞球」到「水晶球」，余怒詩歌中與圓有關的意象，透露出作者成長於大躍進、文化大革命時期的歷史背景，而這些歷史事件所造成的悲劇，為後代中國人遺留下生存與道德互相傾軋的兩難習題。余怒藉由獨創性的詩歌語言，將此兩難習題顯題化，並提供了一種帶有《莊子》學意味的「圓」的因應之方。
