As one of the poets who got the recognition in the history of modern Taiwanese literature, Yang Hua created the most modern poems in Taiwan under Japanese rule. Yang Hua had a great historical meaning of poetry in Taiwan, his poems utilized lots of ''natural images,'' which contribute the using of symbol in modern poetry. The paper analysis Yang Hua's collection of poems, quantifying the natural images of his creation. Through the discussion of Chinese traditional symbol, five elements theory and the poetic theory of Gaston Bachelard, the study attempted to clarify Yang Hua's poems and Chinese modern poetry in Taiwan under Japanese rule. |
