The purpose of managing cultural heritage is to achieve sustainable development in the area of cultural heritage and this issue has become a focus of policy makers around the world. In November 2011, the World Heritage Committee released an updated version of“Operational Guidelines for the Implementation of the World Heritage Convention”. Between 1977 and 2011, this document was revised 17 times to reflect the needs of society, based on the concept of dynamic management. For forty years, the World Heritage Convention has been working to protect important cultural-and natural heritage. The main task of cultural heritage management has shifted from restoration to identifying the value of culture heritage and its ability to meet the needs of a multicultural society. The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of cultural heritage management and determine whether the reuse of cultural resources has provided opportunities for sustainable development since the implementation of Cultural Heritage Preservation Act in Taiwan thirty years ago. |
