The Pacific War is always one of the major themes in postwar Taiwanese literature. In this paper, I would review Lee Chiao's early works, such as short stories in The Mountain Girl (山女) (1970) and the third trilogy Lone Light (孤燈) (1979) of ''Wintry Night (寒夜三部曲)'' from the perspectives of historical memory of the war. The focus will be on the trajectories and changes of the Pacific War scenes and the representation of metaphors. Through analyses of Lee Chiao's different literature works, this research aims to rethink the ambiguity of literature and history and its cultural influences. |
