The present work explores GU Cheng's sentence patterns and phonemic symbolism relying on Principal Components Analysis (PCA) for 1. sentence lengths, 2. sinograms, 3. syllables, 4. consonants, 5. vowels, and 6. tones. Based on colocation frequency, we extract underlying rhythmic and musical patterns from all lines. This allows us to categorize the musicality and the rhythmic feeling in reading GU Cheng's poems in order to characterize his poetic syntax and to propose a methodical approach for interpreting his poems on a deeper level. |
