Yuguan is an important pass to withstand the northeastern minorities since the Sui and Tang dynasties, and afterwards, a number of significant historical events are relevant with Yuguan. This paper will in detail discuss Yu guan's evolution, the relationship between it and Shanhai Pass, the mileage records in the literatures related to Yuguan, and mountain or surface features surrounding, trying to clear an error of deeming Shanhai pass as ancient Yuguan, thus attempting to give reasonable explanations concerning different locations of Yuguan in each dynasty. |
