Mongolia's geography from northwest to southeast shows atrend from high to low, and occupying acommanding position to the China. Before the 17th century, China faced threat from Mongolia alongside the border for several centuries. Since the 1990s, Mongolia has taken aneutral position of international relations, maintaining balanced diplomatic relations with the two neighboring powers, despite its geographical position in the buffer zone between Russia and China. In addition, Mongolia is actively developing the third neighbor strategy to establish bilateral and multilateral cooperation with highly developed countries, seeking athird force on which it can rely, atwo-track strategy that has become the main axis of Mongolia's foreign policy. |
