The article discusses a nursing experience of a patient with painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Because of painful symptoms, it was stressed to learn the self-care skills of diabetes. The coming sufferings are an extreme challenge to regaining the normal life. Information was collected through 11 criterion of the Gordon scale, by which some unhealthful problems were discovered: hyperglycemia, chronic pain, imbalanced nutrition, and ineffective denial. In the course of caring, a delicate nurse-patient relationship is necessary to built by empathy, sincere attitude, and nursing capability. In collaboration with the caring teams; it should alleviate neuropathy pain and restrain blood sugar. An ultimate purpose is definitely dependent on continuous learning and discussing to increase patients' self-care ability of diabetes and to give up ineffective denial. Afterward follow-up caring and support will be critical to improve their living quality of life. |
