Nutritional status is closely related to the health status of residents at long-term care facilities. Thus, it is important to explore the nutritional status and its correlators among residents at long-term care facilities. A cross-sectional design with a descriptive correlation design was employed in this study. In total, 178 community-based long-term care facilities and 603 residents participated in this study. Results of this study showed that 25-30% subjects were malnourished status. 30.3% of subjects were overweight from the result of body mass index (BMI) measurement. 63.8% of subjects had larger waist measurement and 32.5% of subjects had cholesterol was higher than 200 mg/dl. The prevalence of metabolism syndrome is worrisome for those residents living in community-based long-term care facilities. This study found that the correlators of subjects' nutrition status were gender, age, educational levels, ADLs, cognition status, and eating habits. This study found that it is important to assess residents' nutritional status regularly and to set a personal dietary plan according to the results of nutritional status and personal preferences in order to improve their nutritional status. |
