This report intended to research the psychological and physiological shock of a patient who was in the lastphase of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome in an Intensive Care Unit. Physical assessment was guided by the Gordonfunctional health status. There were five problems including inability to sustain spontaneous ventilation,impaired tissue integrity, pain, anticipatory grieving and spiritual distress. The author gave the patient thepsychological nursing care and communicated with her. The author supported what the patient thought, so thepatient could bravely express her ideas. The family members could then face the death of the patient. Furthermorethe patient could peacefully face her own coming death. It is hoped this report can give other colleaguesa reference of for giving care in similar situation. |
