Among all kinds of sport injuries of the knee joint, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is indeedthe most prevalent kind. The incidence rate becomes even higher with more people engaged insports activities. It is therefore required of the nursing staff in orthopedic departments to be equippedwith a complete knowledge about procedures in the proper care of these patients withACL injuries.This article aims at giving a systemic overviewof themechanism, symptoms and signs, diagnosis,treatment, nursing practice, and rehabilitation ofACL injuries. It is hoped that a better understandingof this type of injury will help nursing staff in better use of a systemic guidance, appropriatemental support and education while treating patients of this kind. In turn, these patients will gainhigher self-control, better self-care, and faster recovery to normal everyday life. They will enjoy abetter quality of life. |
