Interventional cardiology has been rapidly evolving over the past decade, and percutaneous coronary revascularization by means of stenting has become the most common major medical intervention. The efficacy of coronary stenting has been proven in patients with a variety of clinical presentations, including acute myocardial infarction and multi vessel coronary artery disease. Because of the changes, nurses and cardiovascular technologists must continuously update their skills to enable them to care better for patients undergoing interventional procedures. This guide will outline how to care for patients receiving the stent in preparation, during and after the procedure. We hope this article can provide some new information for the nursing care of patients with coronary stenting. |
